Facing the Moment: Repairing Broken Dialogue (Ep. 3)

PARTS & SELF in partnership with the Foundation for Self Leadership is pleased to announce the 2nd episode of our podcast, “Facing the Moment.” This podcast centers on IFS-inspired insights and actions by means of exploring the multiple crises confronting each of us today. The conversations address how—specifically—we can move forward with resilience, hope, and meaning in challenging and changing times.

Episode 3, titled “Repairing Broken Dialogue,” showcases Jen Wofford, MSW. Wofford is a Clinical Social Work Therapist, in practice for 25 years. She brings a unique skillset having also worked in a first career as an organizer and campaign director of mission-driven social justice organizations for 17 years. Jen worked at the community, state, and national levels leading campaigns and leading organizations. As a Clinical Social Worker, Jen completed advanced post-graduate clinical training at the Washington School of Psychiatry and holds multiple certifications. Jen has been a student at the Washington Center for Consciousness Studies for a dozen years, studying Dzogchen Buddhism, Phenomenology, and Psychotherapy. Jen has completed advanced training in a therapeutic methods including Internal Family Systems (level 2), Imago Relationship Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Imagery and Ego State, Intimacy From the Inside Out, Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, AEDP, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Wofford speaks with Foundation for Self Leadership Executive Director Toufic Hakim, PhD to discuss how to calm our nervous systems in moments of reactivity; what it takes to create emotional and psychological safety in group dialogue; and how empathy for self and others opens doors to deeper connection.
